There are many poker variations out there, but some of them are more popular than the others. Texas Hold’em poker fits this definition perfectly: it is probably the most known and popular mode. It belongs to the community card poker category and can be played by at least two persons unlike most of the games that require from 3 to 9 players. It brings a lot of fun! You can use strategies to increase your odds, and the pot can reach millions of dollars.

The online version is as just popular as the “physical” one too. In fact, online Holdem is probably the most played casino gamble after classic video poker. NYX Gaming knows this, and presents us Ultimate Texas Hold’em in its full glory: you can win up to 25.000 coins easily. While using the classic ruleset, you’re offered side bets and a chance to win big on every round. You can play completely for free and without downloading a program, directly within your browser.

Mobile devices are also supported as long as they support the Flash platform, but the controls are not touch-optimized. It is also possible to play for the real money, just click the “play now” button to start playing in a reputable online casino with exclusive bonuses. Let’s take a closer look at the gamble and explain it in detail.

By the way, SlotoZilla offers a unique ability to play the Ultimate Texas Hold’em practice games for free – you do not need to download or register to try it for fun, anyway, the real money version is also provided, so you can feel free to try it for both benefits.

What Are the Rules of Ultimate Texas Hold’em?

As we mentioned above, Texas Hold’em is a community card game; which means you are not limited to your hand only. There are “community” cards on the table too, and each player can use them to form a winning hand. Let’s start from the beginning: Texas Hold’em is played with 52 cards that are dealt clockwise, and up to 9 players can participate at the same time.

The objective is to form the highest hand possible and win the progressive pot on the table. This is why Texas Hold’em is a different type of gamble: you play for the pot and form your strategy according to this. For example, an experienced beginner may lose on purpose even with a good hand, just to increase the amount of the pot. Knowing when to raise and when to fold is the key to winning.

At the beginning of each round, a player is chosen to be the dealer. The round begins with each player placing a wager. This is called the “ante” (entry) bet and the amount changes for each game; sometimes it can reach hundreds of thousands of dollars. After placing the ante bets, each player gets 2 cards, face down. (These are called “holes.”) After the first dealing, the betting round starts. Each player has 3 options at this point:

  • Forfeit the round and lose the ante bet (fold);
  • Match the amount of the wager put in by other players (check);
  • Raise the total amount of the pot by putting more chips than the other players (raise).
  • This is the first betting. At the end of this round, the dealer deals 3 face-up community cards on the table. This is followed by a second betting round with the same rules explained above. After this, the “showdown” phase starts. The dealer deals a single community card (it is called the turn) and starts the third betting. The fourth betting is the end of the game and starts by the dealing of the final card (called the river). All stakes double during the third and fourth rounds.

What makes Ultimate Texas Hold’em exciting is these final rounds. Usually, only two players remain for the last rounds and the game between them is called a “showdown.” Their goal is to form the best 5-card poker hand by using 2 “hole” and 5 community cards. They can choose to use any of the cards on the table, as long as they can form a valid poker hand. The usual poker hierarchy is used, which is:

Ranking

Hand Name

Explanation

1

Straight Flush

Five of identical suits, in numerical order

2

4 of a Kind

Four of same rank

3

Full House

Three of the same rank

4

Flush

Five of the same suit

5

Straight

Five following each other in sequence

6

3 of a Kind

7

8

9

Any hand other than above, highest one wins

At any point, if the hole cards are exposed to other players, this is called a “misdeal” and results in another dealing.

How to Play Ultimate Texas Hold’em?

The main rules are the same, but Ultimate Texas Hold’em differs from the classic game by these features:

  • It is played against a dealer; there are no other players.
  • You can place side bets, which are called “trips” and “blind.”
  •  A misdeal is not possible.
  • There are only 2 betting rounds instead of 4.

When the game first loads, it asks you to set your minimum & maximum bet amounts. There are 3 choices available:

Minimum Bet, coins

Maximum Bet, coins

1.00

100.00

5.00

250.00

15.00

500.00

You need to choose one to be able to start. Note that these value may change if you prefer to play with real money and according to the online casino. After choosing the bet amounts, the main interface loads. It looks like a real poker table and easily understandable. You can start by placing the ante bet.

See the poker chips located at the bottom right side of the screen? They represent your wagers. Click one of the chips and then click the “ante” circle on the table. Note that you automatically place the same wager onto the “blind” circle too. This side bet is forced, but the payouts are very high.

Click the “deal” button to get your first 2 cards. Just like you, the dealer gets first two, too. At this point, there are 3 options accessible only in Ultimate version of the Texas Hold’em:

  • 3x: Raise the wager by 3 times.
  • 4x: Raise the wager by 4 times.
  • Check: Do not raise the wager, call for community cards.
  • Fold: Forfeit the round.

Ultimate Texas Hold’em casino game implies choosing 3x or 4x will immediately end the game, bypass all rounds and reveal the community cards. Whether you win or lose will be displayed on the screen. If you choose the “check” option, only 3 community cards will get revealed. After that, you will be asked to raise the bet by 1x or check again. Whatever you choose, the game will end, rest of the cards will be revealed and the result will be displayed. However, by choosing “1x”, you can raise the wager once more. Each round lasts seconds, and the gameplay is very fast. At the end of each game, you will be offered 2 options:

  • Same Bet: Start another round with the same wager you placed before.
  • New Game: Start another round with new wagers.

If you are the winner, the payment will be made according to the paytable. You can always put a wager onto the “trips” circle too. This side bet is completely optional and based on pure luck. Placing a Trips bet is about betting on a specific poker hand, and if you manage to form that hand, an extra payment will be awarded.

The Ultimate Texas Hold’em Game Paytable

There are 3 different paytables. That’s because the gamble offers 3 different betting options, 2 are side bets and one is for the main game. According to the bets you placed, you will get awarded like these:

Ultimate Texas Hold’em Casino Bets & Wagers

We explained the minimum and maximum bets above. The chips that represent your wagers are 5 in total, and they each contain a different numerical value: 1.00 – 5.00 – 25.00 – 100.00 – 500.00. These are, in other words, all of your betting options per round. The maximum payout is 25.000 coins. However, this value may change if you prefer to play the real-money version.

Strategies & Special Abilities

The most common strategy anyone can follow is called “tight-aggressive.” This is a simple approach: enter as few rounds as possible, but raise the pot aggressively when you choose to enter a round. Remember that you are also betting against characters, not only hands.

This means raising the pot invasively will scare most of the players at the table and force them to fold. Try to read your opponents and analyze their characters by raising even if you have a bad hand – just to get information. You will lose a couple of hands but get priceless data in exchange. Knowing when to bluff is the main strategy of all poker games, including Texas Hold’em.

However, if you are playing against a “machine,” like Ultimate Texas Hold’em game, calculating the odds is your best strategy. To do this, make a mental note of the revealed community cards. There are 52 ones in total, and with each revealed card, you can calculate the odds of a single outcome.

For example, if you are trying to form a Flush, there are 13 cards in the deck you can use. Since you already got 2 of them; the odds of getting a card to fill your hand is 4 to 1. In other words, counting will be your best trick to win.
