This a game where the player plays against the dealer to get a blackjack. Blackjack is attained when the player’s cards total to a value of 21. If the value of his cards is more than 21, this is termed as a bust.

Both the player and the dealer are dealt two cards. Beat the dealer’s hand without a bust to win the game against the house.

Rules For Playing American Blackjack

6 standard decks of cards are used in American Blackjack and they are shuffled after each round. The player must choose his position and place his bet using the chips marked as chip1, 5, 25 or 100. Clicking on the ‘Deal’ button starts the round.

  • The player’s cards are dealt face up.
  • The dealer’s cards are dealt with one face up and the other face down. The face-down card is known as the Hole Card.
  • The dealer will stand at a soft 17 when he is about to land 21.
  • If the dealer feels the possibility of a blackjack, he can take a peek at his cards. Once he gets a blackjack, the house wins.
  • You have the options to Hit, Split, Double or take up Insurance.
  • The player can Double Down on any value and can also double after a split.
  • Splitting involves dividing the cards dealt into two separate hands to increase the player’s winning odds.
  • Splitting can be done up to 3 times to make 4 hands.
  • The Ace card can also be split on one hit.
  • If the player gets a value of 21 on a split Ace, it is not counted as a natural 21 but just a normal 21.

The main differences between this game and European Blackjack is that in the latter, there is no hole card, 2 standard decks are used for playing doubling down is done on a hand with values of 9,10 or 11.

Card Values in American Blackjack

  • The Ace can be valued as a 1 or 11.
  • The King, Queen, and Jack are valued at 10.

  • A hand consisting of an Ace valued at 11 is a soft hand while one containing an Ace valued at 1 is a hard hand.

Payouts And House Edge
